There’s a lot of work going on in and around the former Sonoco paper mill in Glen Miller, just north of Trenton.
All Season Fencing from North York was looking to expand its production and bought the plant recently.
Company spokesperson Abby Dellosa says other than fencing, All Season Fencing makes high-quality railings and decking from recycled high-quality PVC thereby keeping plastic out of landfills. The products are an affordable alternative to wood while also being environmentally friendly and durable. Dellosa says the production process does not produce any harmful waste.
Machinery is being moved in and a grand opening is planned for February. The company will hire about 30 employees to start, with plans to expand as its market expands.
Meanwhile there’s a deep local connection in the sale of the plant to All Season Fencing. Realtor Jamie Troke of Ekort Realty worked with the company’s owners to sell the building but it wasn’t just the usual commercial/industrial sale for him. Troke was born and raised right across the Trent River in Glen Miller and remains friends with some of Sonoco’s former employees.
