Quinte West OPP have laid charges after a break and enter and an assault at a home in Trenton.
Police responded to a report of an assault in progress at a residence on Telephone Rd. around 9 p.m. on Monday.
When police arrived, they say they spotted the victim with injuries and allege that the accused was still inside the home.
The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The accused was arrested.
Police say the victim and the accused knew each other.
A 39-year-old male from York, Ont. was charged with the following:
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence; and
- Utter threats – cause death or bodily harm
The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing Tuesday.
The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
