It’s just about time to get the purple out of the closet.
Next month is Dress Purple Month recognizing the importance of the community’s role in
supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families.
Monday Belleville council heard from Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society representatives Jennifer Bishop and Joshua Reeves
who said the pandemic has caused more stress on families and individuals and more calls for help from CAS.
Bishop said only 20% of calls to the Society involve serious violence while the remainder of the abuse calls stem from neglect, addictions problems, and poverty.
Bishop said only 3 % of the Society’s investigations lead to children being taken from their homes.
Dress Purple Day next month will be on Thursday October 27.
