There is an advisory from a local animal control company to not allow your cats to be loose near open green space due to the threat of coyotes.
Pearce Animal Control tells Quinte News they’ve noticed that when cats get lost, they map out to the closest green space and notice cats will disappear around that area.
The company says coyotes will come from two or three blocks away to pursue loose cats.
They say they’ve noticed this trend in areas around Belleville and Quinte West.
Pearce Animal Control is also reminding residents of by-laws regarding allowing your cats outdoors in Quinte West and Belleville.
