The City of Belleville has another Giveaway Day coming up in September.
On Saturday, September 10 residents can put out gently used household items at the curb for other residents to pick up.
Examples of items that could be shared are furniture, small working appliances, books, DVDs, kitchen items and renovation materials like lumber and hardware.
The city asks that people not put out anything that could pose a safety hazard or that has been recalled by the manufacturer.
Items that should not be given away or picked up include baby walkers, cribs, car seats, strollers, playpens, bath seats, mattresses, blinds and toys.
The eco-friendly event initiated by the Green Task Force will run rain or shine.
Task Force Chair Councillor Chris Malette says two previous Giveaway Days held in the spring have proven popular and after a summer of downsizing, this presents another opportunity to spare household items from the landfill.
Items should be placed to the curb by 8 a.m. and brought back in by 8 p.m. the same day.
Leading up to the event, residents are also encouraged to share what they will be putting at the curb on social media using the hashtag #GiveawayDayBelleville to let others know what will be available and on which street, to reduce emissions from driving around.
