Quinte West OPP have arrested and charged two men following an alleged robbery in Quinte West.
Police responded to a report of an alleged robbery on Wednesday at around 10:30 p.m.
The report stated that two men had forced their way into a residence on Herman St. in Trenton and made the victim transfer money from their bank account to the accused.
An investigation by police led to one of the accused being identified.
At around 2 a.m. Thursday morning, Quinte West OPP officers attended an address on John Street and arrested a male for various offences involving the alleged robbery.
While officers were making the arrest, another male at the location allegedly assaulted an officer.
A taser was used against the suspect.
A 30-year-old male from Trenton has been charged with the following:
- Robbery with Violence
- Unlawfully in Dwelling House
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Assault
- Administer Noxious Thing with Intent to Aggrieve or Annoy
- Forcible Confinement
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
In addition, a 24-year-old male from Trenton was charged with the following:
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Assault a Peace Officer
Both of the accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 18, 2022.
The names of the accused have been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
