schedule of meetings.
Mayor of Quinte West Jim Harrison says the shortage of housing, homelessness, and public transit were all up for discussion, adding that the reinstatement of VIA Train 651 running from Kingston to Toronto was high on the agenda for all politicians in this part of Ontario.
“I think, right now, they have about 5,000 names on a petition of people who not only have used it but would like to continue to use it.”
A rally pushing for the route 651’s return to service is scheduled to be held on the morning of Friday, September 9 in Cobourg.
Train 651 was cancelled by VIA due to declining ridership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The AMO conference continues through Wednesday.
