Two people have been charged after $2000 in groceries were stolen from a Trenton business.
Quinte West OPP responded to a theft in progress at a business on Dundas Street East last Thursday around 3:45 p.m.
It’s alleged that one of the accused made multiple trips to the store without paying, while the other waited outside in a vehicle while the items were being stored.
Officers were able to intercept the vehicle and recover the items as well as seize suspected methamphetamine.
Thirty-nine-year-old Jesse Breen and 51-year-old Tracy Leger, both from Belleville, were each charged with theft under $5000 and possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine.
Both of the accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 15, 2022.
