It’s smooth sailing on area roads and highways Saturday morning thankfully, after a major traffic disruption Friday that started early in the morning on Highway 401 between Shannonville and Marysville.
Reports indicate that at 2:30 a.m. Friday a tractor trailer collided with a parked vehicle, causing a big fire. Luckily, there were no serious injuries.
The entire highway was closed for a short time and the eastbound lanes were closed all day and weren’t reopened until after 8 o’clock last night.
Because of heat damage from the fire, Ministry of Transportation personnel and contractors had to make repairs to the highway’s surface.
There were reports it was taking people over five hours to get from Belleville to Napanee.
Meanwhile, at around 7:30 p.m. Friday, a transport went into a ditch on the 401 west on-ramp at Brighton. No one was injured.
And just before midnight there was a single vehicle collision on a 401 ramp at Highway 62 at Belleville.
The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
