The Correctional Service of Canada reports a large amount of contraband was recently seized at Warkworth Institution.
On Friday, staff at the medium security federal institution seized a package containing contraband and unauthorized items.
Seized items included 250 grams of tobacco, 99 grams of marijuana and 218 grams of shatter (cannabis concentrate), as well as cell phones and accessories.
The Correctional Service of Canada uses several tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions, including ion scanners and detector dogs, and works in partnership with police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband or unauthorized items to correctional institutions.
