The first phase of the Riverside West BMX Pump Track will go ahead this fall now that Belleville Council has awarded the contract for its construction.
On Monday during a special meeting Monday, council awarded the $225,000 contract to Transition Bike Parks Inc.
Money was set aside in the 2022 capital budget for the project which staff say aligns with the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and will help fill activity gaps in the community.
It’s also hoped the track will allow the city to host competitive events and enhance local sports tourism.
Phase one of the project is expected to begin mid-September and be completed by the end of November.
