A new playground joins the growing number of parks dotted around Belleville.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk and a few members of council cut the ribbon at the new playground on Finch Drive this afternoon.
Moments later, local children were enjoying the new swings, slide, and other fixtures.
Mayor Panciuk says that there was a shortage of playgrounds in the area.
A pair of design concepts was presented to residents, and an online meeting was held in February to get feedback from the public. The current design received more votes and was the one installed.
The project was budgeted for as part of the 2022 capital budget, in part using funds from provincial COVID recovery funds for new or updated playground equipment.
This is the sixth park in the city to receive improvements, and the city is planning to improve more in the near future.
