Rourke Chartier is returning to the Senators.
The Ottawa Senators announced Tuesday the team has signed the centre to a one-year, two-way NHL contract.
The 26-year-old Saskatoon native was hampered by injuries last season but appeared in 33 games with the Belleville Senators, registering 10 goals and 15 assists.
He also tallied two points (1G-1A) in two postseason games during the 2022 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Chartier was selected in the fifth round (149th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks and has skated in 182 career AHL games with the San Jose Barracuda, Toronto Marlies and Belleville, recording 107 points (42 goals, 65 assists).
He has also dressed in 13 NHL games, all with San Jose.
The contract has an average annual value of $750,000 and $165,000 in the American Hockey League.
