Belleville council recognized the departing President and CEO of Loyalist College Dr. Anne Marie Vaughan at its meeting on Monday.
After leading Loyalist into becoming a “destination” college that’s climbing the rankings when it comes to applied research in the country, Dr. Vaughan will be taking over as CEO of Humber College, the first woman to have ever headed that institution.
Mayor of Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk said that in just six years Dr. Vaughan had transformed the college for the better.
“Twenty-five new programs have been started under her leadership, a significant improvement in the financial status of the school, really becoming an industry partner, making sure that graduates are able to step in and work immediately.”
For her part, an emotional Anne Marie Vaughan said she was proud of Loyalist’s commitment to student success and its partnerships with the wider community, calling her work here a life-changing, enriching experience.
