City of Belleville planning staff are recommending approval of rezoning to allow a three-storey 36-unit apartment building on Moira Street East near Riverside Park.
The vacant property is currently zoned to allow a nursing home consisting of a maximum of two storeys and 61 units.
At a recent Planning Advisory Committee public meeting several residents spoke against the proposed apartment building, saying it wouldn’t fit in with the neighbourhood, would create traffic congestion, and harm the environment because mature trees would have to be cut down.
The Planning Advisory Committee meets late this afternoon at 5:30 via ZOOM.
