It looks as though Belleville’s former police station will again serve as a winter warming centre.
At its meeting Monday, city council approved an agreement that would free the building’s current owners Habitat for Humanity from any liability for damage that might occur over the cold months.
Hastings County will run the warming centre and pay its costs and must still approve the city’s recommendation.
In a new wrinkle this year, the warming centre will be open all winter instead of just on nights when the mercury dips to minus 10 or lower.
