It’s back to the drawing board for administration with the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board.
Last night a $221.6 million proposed budget for the 2022/23 school year was not approved as there was a tie vote by trustees, 4 to 4.
Job cuts were the main concern of trustees voting against the budget.
Before the board meeting almost 100 education workers rallied outside the Education Centre on Ann Street protesting the draft budget as it would have cut 11 clerical, custodial, and maintenance jobs.
The school board only has until the end of the month to approve a new budget.
