A Belleville man has been sentenced to nine months in prison and 18 months probation after a violent incident at a major intersection last September.
The incident occurred at College and North Front Streets just before 5 o’clock in the morning when James Thomson stole a car while someone was using a nearby bank machine. The victim got back to the vehicle but was dragged along until Thomson drove into a building on North Front Street.
At that point witnesses ran to help and two people ended up being stabbed by Thomson, who was 30 years old when the incident took place.
Belleville police had to use a taser to take him into custody.
He was sentenced Monday.
