A number of Bay of Quinte communities are hosting Alzheimer’s Walks Saturday.
Amelia Huffman is with the Alzheimer’s Society Hastings-Prince Edward and says there are five local walks.
“We’re going to be in Belleville at Jane Forrester Park and in Quinte West at Centennial Park, at Macaulay Heritage Park in Picton. Also one in Tweed (Tweed Fairgrounds) and one in Bancroft (Millennium Park – 166 Hastings St N)”
Huffman says the walks are important for a number of reasons.
“Not only like you say in terms of raising funds, but bringing us together as a community, whether people are walking with us or virtually and participating at home, it’s really a day for us to come together and honour those who are affected by dementia.”
The goal for the five walks is to raise $75,000.
