The community of Carrying Place in The County is going to play host to a fundraiser this week (Wednesday), with support going to the people of Ukraine.
It is called Ukraine Fest and is taking place Wednesday at Hoss’s Diner.
Corrine Sykes is the event organizer and says the food will be top notch.
“Made from scratch Ukranian meal. We’ve got our victory vareniki or pierogies for peace, which are hand-made by recently arrived Ukrainian grandmas. Borscht for the evening as well. Then we also have for dessert, another recently arrived woman from Kiev, who had to flee and leave behind her pastry shop in Kiev and her specialty is macarons.”
Sykes says their host for the event is stepping up to the plate in a big way.
“Hoss of Hoss’s Diner who’s donating the venue, he’s also donating his auctioneer services, so we’ll also have a small little live auction in the middle there.”
Balaklava Blues, Lux Band will provide music for the evening. It also includes the auction and a three course meal.
