Belleville police responded to 236 calls for service over a 96-hour period from 5 a.m. on May 20, 2022 to 5 a.m. on May 24, 2022.
Impaired
On March 20, 2022 at 12 a.m., a Belleville uniform patrol officer stopped a vehicle at a north end business. The driver showed signs of intoxication and failed a roadside screening test and was arrested. The driver was found to have over double the legal limit of alcohol in his body. As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Trevor Rusaw of Thurlow was charged with operating a motor vehicle with 80 plus mgs of alcohol. Rusaw was later released with a June 23 court date.
Collision/Impaired
On May 22, 2022, Belleville police were called to the intersection of Dundas Street West and Bay Bridge Road Belleville for a single motor vehicle collision. The driver showed signs of intoxication and failed a roadside screening test and was arrested. The driver was found to have over double the legal limit of alcohol in his body. As a result of the investigation, 21-year-old Mason Poulain of Carrying Place was charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80mgs of alcohol and impaired operation. Poulain was later released with a court date of June 23, 2022.
Breach of Bail Conditions
On May 22, 2022 Belleville police observed a male known to have reasonable grounds to be arrested for breach of a release order and break and enter. As a result, 49-year-old David Robertson of Belleville was arrested and held for a show cause hearing on May 23, 2022.
Mischief and Cause Disturbance
On May 21, 2022 at 2:45 p.m., a male party pushed a shopping cart into the path of a vehicle on Station Street causing damage to the car. Police reviewed security camera footage and identified a suspect. Then on May 23, 2022 at 7:12 p.m., Hasting Quinte Paramedics reported to police that a male had thrown stones at their ambulance as it responded to a call. Police investigated and learned it was the same suspect as the May 21, 2022 incident. As a result, 41-year-old Tyler Branscombe of Belleville was arrested for mischief and causing a disturbance. Branscombe was released with a court date of June 30, 2022.
