Giveaway Day is coming back to the city of Belleville.
The Green Task Force is following up its day for giveaways last fall with a spring date this weekend.
Councillor Bill Sandison tells Quinte News he thinks people are geared up for it since there have been a number of enquiries. Participating residents are encouraged to put out gently used household items that are no longer wanted at the curb for pick-up. Sandison says it was noticed at last fall’s event that some people made bulk pick-ups that were not for personal use but that “somebody can use it.”
“Some people came around you know and made bulk pick-ups that perhaps weren’t for their own personal use, but at the end of the day this material will all find its way, hopefully, to somebody that can use it.”
Sandison adds, “I think people are really geared up for it. The weather looks like it might be cooperating on Saturday. This is a great way to engage the community.”
“It’s all about neighbour helping neighbour and so that helps foster a community spirit, if you will. And, and it’s a really inexpensive way to go about it.”
The Spring Giveaway Day in Belleville is this Saturday, May 21.
