Erica Charlton is running in the upcoming provincial election to make this region better for her family and everyone living here.
“I had a lot of great opportunities growing up here. I biked everywhere, I worked locally. I was able to get around. And that’s not necessarily the case anymore and I’ve noticed, particularly with our shorelines, the effects of climate change. And when I moved here the intention was to raise my son in the same environment that I had and it’s not the same and I’d like to actually participate to, you know, make some positive changes around here.”
“There’s an expectation of the Green Party that I say is a little bit different than the other parties in that we have to be the best and we have to know what we’re talking about because people have that expectation of us in the first place. We know that if people want to take us seriously we need to be educated and formally address these issues with real solutions, otherwise, no one’s gonna pay attention to us.”
Charlton says there are several local climate issues she wants to address including promoting not just electric vehicles, but ride sharing to get more vehicles off the roads.
She adds issues like housing and the opioid crisis are also important to her and the Green party.
