There will be another public boat launch in the Wellington area this summer.
Prince Edward County has entered into an agreement with Cer-A-Met Manufacturing to use the boat ramp and designated parking area at 16057 Loyalist parkway.
The one-year agreement includes an option for a one-year extension.
The municipality began looking for alternative boat launch options after council approved the permanent closure of the Belleville Street launch due to safety concerns and traffic congestion issues.
The boat ramp at 16057 Loyalist Parkway will allow boaters to launch smaller watercraft as the gravel ramp will not be suitable for larger, heavier boats.
The parking area will accommodate approximately 15 vehicles/trailers.
Boaters can use their full season boat launch parking permit at the new location or pay for a single day use.
Improvements will be made to the site over the coming weeks with the launch expected to open in the middle of June.
