Belleville police responded to 170 calls for service over a 72-hour period from 5 a.m. on May 13, 2022 and 5 a.m. on May 13, 2022.
Domestic Assault
On May 14, 2022 at 12:30 a.m., Belleville police attended an address on Dunbar Street in regards to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police spoke to one of the parties who provided information that they had been assaulted by their partner. As a result, a male 26-year-old Belleville resident was arrested for domestic assault. Further investigation revealed that he was on a condition to not be around the victim due to another incident. As a result, he was charged with one count of assault and one count of breaching an undertaking. He was later released with a court date for June 6, 2022. His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
Arrest on Warrants
On May 14, 2022 at 12:15 a.m., Belleville police were informed by the Toronto Police Service that they currently had a male in custody wanted by Belleville police. Thirty-year-old Jesse Scullion of no fixed address was wanted for careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, weapons dangerous, carrying a concealed weapon, and unauthorized possession of a firearm. Scullion was held for a show cause hearing on May 14, 2022.
Theft
On May 14, 2022 at 7:39 a.m., Belleville police were called to an east end location for a report of a theft of a bicycle. Police received information that a male had stolen the complainant’s bicycle and was known to the victim. Police located the male on the stolen bicycle on May 15, 2022 at 1:15 p.m. A short chase ensued, but he was captured and arrested for the theft. David Robertson, a 50-old male from Belleville was charged with theft and later released with a court date for June 16, 2022.
