“We see that COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community. It’s not going away anytime soon so staying up-to-date in your vaccines is the first most important step to protect your health as we go forward.”
Toumishey added, “We are continuing clinics going through our sites as well as working closely with partners in order to continue accessibility for the COVID-19 vaccine as we move forward. Her continued, “A significant number of pharmacies that are providing vaccines. We have lots of primary care partners who are offering this to their patients. And we expect that would be continuing on. When you look, especially when you see new variants that arise and wane in immunity, continued access to the COVID-19 vaccine is going to be crucially important so that we can keep moving ahead into recovery.”
At a media session following the meeting, Toumishey was questioned by another member of the media about the upcoming provincial election and public health concerns.
He answered, “The policies enacted in a democratic process are critical to our health and to our communities. So I encourage everyone to become informed and get engaged in the democratic process as we look into this election. We’re happy to provide information through our primer and through our website on issues that are affecting the health of our community members this year.”
“A particular one as mentioned that we continue to have to deal with the pandemic so that continued pandemic response was access to the vaccine as an example is critical.
We see lots of health concerns that are popping up. We see instrumental health.
“In particular I’d say the impacts from the opioid crisis and overdoses that are affecting our community. These have enormous impacts. We need to have some very critical focus on.”
