Belleville police responded to 75 calls for service over a 24-hour period between 5 a.m. on May 3, 2022 and 5 a.m. on May 5, 2022.
Single Motor Vehicle Collision
Belleville police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Farnham Road on May 3, 2022 around 3 p.m. involving a school bus occupied by 18 youths and the driver. Officers determined that the bus had left the roadway and struck a hydro pole causing the pole to snap in half. Hydro wires disconnected from the pole and rested on top of the school bus. Emergency crews were able to safely remove the children from the bus without incident. A 10-year-old and a 15-year-old were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and were released a short time later. The collision is still under investigation by the Belleville Police Traffic Safety Unit.
Warrants
Police were on patrol in the downtown core on May 4, 2022 around 12 a.m. when they observed a 32-year-old male known to them, driving a motor vehicle. Police knew that the male was a suspended driver and a vehicle stop was conducted. The driver was arrested for suspended driving. The investigation found that the male had an outstanding warrant out of Lennox & Addington Township. He was charged for driving while suspended and was transported to the Lennox & Addington OPP detachment where he was turned over for the warrant.
