Eager to set the tone and excitement for the Belleville Senators’ upcoming game against the Rochester Americans, Mayor Mitch Panciuk reached out to Malik D. Evans, mayor of the City of Rochester, to convey our enthusiasm and to lightly fan the pre-game flames with competitive banter.
“I understand it is customary for mayors of competing cities to make a wager on the series and I would certainly be willing to do so with you,” said Mayor Panciuk. “If the unlikely scenario arises where Rochester wins this series I would send you some of our famous, Belleville-produced, Hawkins Cheezies and Signal Brewery beer. “
Mayor Evans was quick to reply with the same wit. “I heartily accept the challenge! If by chance Belleville takes the cup, I will personally send you some Rochester-produced Zweigle’s Hot Dogs and Genesee Brew House beers. I wish the Senators the best of luck, and look forward to sharing those Hawkins Cheezies and Signal Brewery beers in celebration of Rochester’s inevitable victory!”
