Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee is recommending city council approve amendments to its Loyalist Secondary Plan and zoning to allow another big west end housing development to proceed. It’s also recommended a draft plan of subdivision be approved.
The proposed development between Avonlough Road and Wallbridge-Loyalist Road would be known as the Village of Avonlea subdivision.
The subdivision would have a total of 695 units including 260 single-detached, 36 semi-detached, 91 townhouses, 68 horizontal multiple-attached, eight low-rise apartments with a total of 96 units, and three high density apartment buildings with a total of 144 units.
There are still concerns about greatly increased traffic, especially as it relates to Hastings Park Drive, but those issues will be focused on when Phase 9-b of the Potter’s Creek development comes before planning staff at the end of the year.
Roundabouts will also serve to calm traffic in the new development.
