The Quinte Arts Council and Fridays for Future Quinte are hosting an Earth Day art show EnviroArts: Earth Day Edition on Friday April 22, 2022 at 11 a.m., showcasing talented artists from across the Quinte region with a focus on environmental issues. The show is about showing the environment through the eyes of artists and highlighting how art plays a significant role in making change.
“Activism through art targets the hearts and minds of audiences. It is integral to social justice movements because art creates change and helps guide the world toward a better future by showing people what they might be unable to see with their own eyes. Hosting Fridays for Future Quinte and the EnviroArts: Earth Day Edition show at the Quinte Arts Council is a great way for the QAC to enable artists advocating for change to have a space where their voices can be heard,” said Janet Jarrell Executive Director of the Quinte Arts Council.
Fridays for Future Quinte is an environmental activism group. Part of a larger national group, the Quinte Chapter was founded in 2020 to educate and raise awareness about the climate crisis. Raising awareness about environmental issues while appreciating the beauty of nature, the show is a great chance to see the intersection between art and activism. EnviroArts: Earth Day Edition opens Friday April 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. with opening remarks by artist, QAC member and environmentalist Liana DiMarco. The show will run until May 9, 2022.
