“I worked a lot with him during the World Juniors from, probably ’03-’04 until probably 2010. He’s had a phenomenal career. It’s not just local, it’s national. And he deserves a lot of credit for that. But he really is the voice of Belleville hockey and he deserves this.”
“Probably over the last, you know, 40 or 45 years that he’s lived in the Belleville area, I can’t think of anybody that’s given more time and effort and voice to so many community efforts than Jack Miller has.”
“It’s wonderful to give him this recognition. I think, of all of us on Belleville City Council, we’re pleased to support it. And from now on we will always remember Jack Miller as the voice of the Belleville Senators and the voice of the Belleville Bulls. But also for his service to our city.”
Belleville City Councillor and Program Director at Quinte Broadcasting, Sean Kelly has spent almost 30 years of mornings with Jack on the Mix Morning Show.
“Very special for Jack. Forty-plus years with Quinte Broadcasting. Nice to see a good friend, good colleague get honoured by the City of Belleville with the press box here at the CAA Arena. I know Jack has a spring in his step today. Pretty exciting for him and C.J. Well deserved too.”
Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams calls Jack an inspiration.
“I think it’s an inspiration, as young politician, on how he balances family life with that. You know, I think that’s really impressive and I’m very proud of him for what he’s done.”
Following the dedication ceremony at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, Jack dropped the puck to start the Belleville Senators game against the Toronto Marlies.
Then he took his familiar seat in the broadcast booth for play-by-play.
Jack’s current Belleville Senators broadcast partner David Foot.
“Jack’s been with us since day one and obviously is the long time voice of hockey in the community. I think it’s a fitting tribute for his name to go up on the broadcast booth here and for us to recognize all the work that he has put into growing the game of hockey in our community over the last forty-plus years.”
“The presentation, the friends that came together tonight. The honour of having the press box named after me. All of it coming together and with city council supporting Belleville Senators. And there’s just so much to take in and to appreciate and to know what a lucky person I am.”
“There was some crazy days and weeks and years running around, getting on buses and planes and everything else. You can’t do it unless you have the support of your family and they encourage you to do these things. And I had all of that. And I can’t tell you how much I not only appreciated it but needed it.”
And the Belleville Senators kept the party going Wednesday night by winning their fifth straight, beating the Toronto Marlies 5-4.
