The Quinte Region Drowning Prevention Coalition has received a national award.
The local coalition has been honoured by the Canadian Drowning Prevention Coalition with the 2021 ‘Drowning Prevention Award for Community Action’ for its strong multi-sectoral collaboration to reduce drowning in the Quinte Region.
The Quinte group, which was launched just one year ago, consists of 17 community agencies across Hastings & Prince Edward Counties and works to prevent the number of fatal drownings and other water-related injuries.
Committee member Staff Sergeant John Hatch, Detachment Commander of the Prince Edward County OPP stated, “It is an honour to receive this recognition from a National organization. It is a great motivator to continue the work that we are doing to reduce drownings in our region.”
