Hastings County is supporting the move to obtain more funding for Thurlow Non-Profit Housing Corporation.
Warden Rick Phillip has written to the corporation indicating support for the application to the Seniors Community grant.
In his letter Warden Phillips says Thurlow Non- Profit Housing Corporation is committed to providing opportunities for seniors to get outdoors, reduce isolation, and increase social interaction.
Phillips writes, “This has been especially difficult during Covid (sic), and this application is to support seniors with on-site access to a large, accessible, and Covid-friendly, screened-in gazebo.”
He adds this gazebo would provide the opportunity to partner with the local church and other organizations to organize events and information sessions of mutual benefit in a healthy outdoor venue.
