Bruce and Brian Walt of Walt’s Sugar Shack in Consecon visited H.J. McFarland Memorial Home in Picton on April 6 to make their annual donation of their world famous maple syrup, sausage and pancake mix for an upcoming resident breakfast.
This year’s gift was extra special as the family has made a $1,500 donation to the home in memory of their parents, John and Marion Walt. The donation was made in honour of their parents and acknowledges the outstanding care provided to their mother while she was a resident at the home.
“We are very appreciative and humbled by the generosity of the Walt family. The contribution will be used to purchase a soft-serve ice cream machine, which the residents and staff have been interested in for a while. To be able to make this goal a reality is very rewarding. Everyone loves ice cream, and it will bring smiles to the residents’ faces,” says Danielle Preston, Recreation and Volunteer Services Supervisor.
