One local Ontario winery made waves Tuesday, after winning multiple first places at an international wine event.
Potter Settlement Artisan Winery from Tweed took home two gold medals at this year’s London International Wine Competition in the United Kingdom.
The winery bested 1,300 entries from 36 countries, taking home golds in the Fortified and Still Wines categories.
“Lots of silvers and bronzes were awarded to competing wineries from Niagara and British Columbia,” says Erin Reitav, the House Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Sommelier at Potter Settlement Winery. “But we are the only winery from Canada to bring home the golds. Two of them. One for our 2020 Cabernet Franc and the other for our Portàge fortified wine.”
Potter Settlement owner, Sandor Johnson says the win brings awareness of Ontario-grown wines to a larger global audience.
