Assault with a weapon
Belleville police were called to a north end business on Thursday night regarding a shoplifter. Officers were advised the suspect, when approached by store staff, threatened them with his cane and left the store with stolen items. Officers located the 60-year-old Belleville resident nearby and arrested him. The man is charged with assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000. He will appear in court for a bail hearing today (Friday).
Failure to comply
Belleville Police were called to a south end business on Thursday evening regarding an encampment that had been set up on a property without the owner’s permission. A check of one of the persons found on the lot confirmed there were grounds for his arrest for failing to comply with a release order. The 43-year-old Belleville resident was arrested and will appear for a bail hearing today (Friday).
Belleville police were called to a west end apartment building on Thursday during the noon hour regarding a naked man running around the property. Officers arrived and arrested the man. The 51-year-old was believed to be under the influence of illegal substances and was charged with committing an indecent act and failing to comply with his probation order. He will appear in court for a bail hearing today (Friday).
