Belleville police responded to 73 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on March 28, 2022 to 5 a.m. on March 29, 2022.
Assault with a Weapon
On March 28, 2022 at 10:41 p.m., members of the Belleville Police Service located a male running on Moira Street East with a head injury. Investigation revealed that the 33-year-old male Belleville resident may have been assaulted with a hammer. The male was taken to Belleville General Hospital by paramedics for medical treatment for a minor laceration to the head. There were no suspects located and the investigation is continuing. Breach of Bail Conditions
On March 25, 2022 a 55-year-old male of no fixed address caused a disturbance at a Front Street bank. When police arrived to deal with the disturbance the male resisted arrest. The male on that date was charged with Resist Arrest, Cause Disturbance and Fail to Comply with a Release Order and held for a show cause hearing. He was subsequently released on conditions not to attend the bank. On March 28, 2022 at 9:40 a.m., the same male returned to the bank and again caused a disturbance with employees. He was again arrested for Failing to Comply with a Release Order and is being held in custody for a show cause hearing on March 29, 2022.
