There may soon be a change in the process for police screening of volunteers in the city of Belleville.
Police Chief Cory McMullan told the Police Services Board today that right now those applications are submitted on Saturday, and volunteers come back to pick up the results. She says the idea is to make it a quicker process. Volunteers in a number of sectors, such as working with children, must have police screening. Board member Frank Chapman says there have been complaints about having to queue-up on Saturday mornings.
