Belleville council is being asked to approve two tenders for upgrades in the city.
Staff are presenting a report on Monday which is seeking the approval of $3.4 million to go towards Phase 2B of the North East Industrial Park Road upgrades and active transportation.
Gordon Barr Limited was the low bidder.
This project includes work on Jamieson Bone Road and College Street East and will see the construction of new sidewalks, reshaping of ditches and the installation of culverts, road reconstruction and level crossing upgrades for railway tracks, and the installation of 21 Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliant bus shelters/transit stops.
Staff are also asking for approval for the Shirley Langer Recreation Trail and parking lot improvements.
Phase one of the project was finished last fall and phase two will include the installation and construction of cross country skiing and snow shoe trails for winter recreation and rough terrain cycling, along with trail and parking lot lighting and asphalt paving of the recreational trail.
The cost of the project is $666,258 and $138,000 in funding for this project comes from the capital levy reserve fund.
Staff is recommending Trilith Contracting Inc. complete the project as it was the most qualified proposal received.
Council meets beginning at 4 p.m.
