Quinte West OPP have made an arrest following an investigation into multiple thefts and break and enters in Trenton.
In February, an individual entered an apartment complex and removed several items including two sewing machines, a quilting machine along with a foot pedal, a dash camera and liquor according to police. The items had a retail value of $8,500.
The OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted in investigating the incident, in addition to other thefts and break and enters that occurred in Trenton in the month of March.
On March 22, at approximately 11:00 a.m., CSCU located and arrested the accused on Creswell Drive in Trenton.
Police arrested and charged 32 year-old Quinte West resident Jason McCullough.
He is facing charges of:
- Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence – two counts
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Trafficking in stolen goods over $5,000
- Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court – four counts
- Mischief under $5,000 – two counts
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Theft from mail – sent by post
- Theft under $5,000
Following a search, various articles including stolen tools, cheques and a replica handgun were seized.
The accused was held in custody and appeared for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 23.
