The Wellington Dukes continue to hold on to the top spot in the East Division.
The Dukes played host to the Cobourg Cougars on Friday night and came away with a 2-1 victory to give themselves a three point buffer over Trenton in the standings.
The visitors opened the scoring when George Krotiris scored 71 seconds into the game.
The 1-0 lead held into the middle frame until Jaxen Boyer was able to get the Dukes on the scoreboard just over four minutes into the period to make it 1-1.
Will Mitchell scored the game winner at the 12:32 mark of the third period when he gave Wellington a 2-1 lead.
Matt Dunsmoor faced 34 shots in the win and Brady Spry saw some time in net as well.
The Dukes are on the road looking to hold on to the top spot in the standings when they take on the Mississauga Chargers on Saturday at 7:45 p.m.
The Trenton Golden Hawks were at home to the Toronto Jr. Canadiens on Friday night and were doubled up 6-3 in front of a crowd of almost 700 people.
Nathan Oickle opened the scoring for the Golden Hawks when he netted a short handed goal at the midway point of the first period.
Matthew Wilde and Ben Loreto both scored early in the period to give the Jr. Canadiens a 2-1 lead.
The third period saw the visiting team unleash on Trenton, scoring four goals in the final 20 minutes, as the Golden Hawks spent most of the period in the penalty box.
Trenton was assessed five minor penalties and two 10-minute misconduct penalties in the final frame.
Eric Vitale scored less than 90 seconds into the period for a 3-1 visitors lead.
Cooper Bertrand scored on the man advantage at the 6:29 mark and again at the mid-point of the period to make it a 5-1 game.
Dalton Bancroft responded twice for the Golden Hawks; once while short handed and once with an extra attacker to make it a 5-3 game.
Ben Van Waterschoot put the game away with an empty net goal with 29 seconds remaining in the game, making it 6-3.
Nguyen William faced 37 shots in the loss.
Trenton is back in action on Saturday afternoon and will look to rebound against Haliburton County at 4:30 p.m.
