The Quinte West OPP has laid charges following a report of a disturbance at a local business.
On March 16, 2022 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a business on Dundas Street East after it was reported that a male entered the business, threatened, and attempted to assault an employee.
Officers arrived and located the male outside the business sitting in a vehicle.
The accused was advised he was under arrest however refused to cooperate, became combative, and threatened to kill the officers.
After a brief altercation, officers were able to gain control of the accused and place him under arrest.
Martin Arnold, 54 years old, from Brighton has been charged with the following offences:
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – two counts;
- Assault;
- Resist peace officer; and
- Assault a peace officer
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 17, 2022.
