There is still no word from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office on the cause of a fire that destroyed a World War II hangar on Tyendinaga Territory last month.
The blaze destroyed the hangar on Airport Road on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
It left Canada’s only Indigenous Aviation Program with no hangar, no planes, and now, no program.
The fire in the night was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived on scene.
Mohawk Fire Chief Scott Maracle tells Quinte News he is still awaiting a report on the cause from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office.
“We’ll get a report at some point. Like I say, it’s going to be, you know, undetermined. Not suspicious. We don’t suspect anything malicious or anything. Like 95% of the fires we go to.”
Officials expect the hangar will be rebuilt.
