Two people from Quebec are facing charges after OPP used a tire deflation device to stop a reported stolen vehicle on Highway 401.
A South Frontenac officer observed the suspect vehicle travelling west on the highway around 7 p.m. Saturday evening and contacted Lennox & Addington OPP.
Police set up the tire deflation device on the highway and stopped the suspect vehicle.
The two occupants fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by officers.
Joseph King, age 40, of Montreal, Quebec, and Kalvin Tinker, age 19, of Lachine, Quebec, are each charged with:
· Theft of Motor Vehicle
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
· Possession for the Purpose of Distributing
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
Tinker is also charged with two counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order and Possession of an Identity Document.
Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
