Unsurprisingly, the name of the Quinte West YMCA is changing.
Council in Quinte West voted unanimously and without any discussion on Monday night during their regular council meeting to change the name of the facility after the late former city councillor, mayor and businessman John Williams.
The motion came forward from the city’s Corporate and Finance Committee last week to change the name to the John Williams YMCA.
During his time as mayor from 2006 to 2014 Williams was the driving force behind bringing a YMCA facility to Quinte West.
No time was given as to when the name change will take place.
