Three more people have died from COVID-19 in Hastings and Prince Edward counties. Forty-four people have now died from the illness since the pandemic began over two years ago.
Meanwhile the number of people being treated in hospital for COVID-19 and the number of active infections in the high-risk population has been trending down.
Friday Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health reported 17 COVID patients in hospital with three of them in intensive care.
Wednesday 23 people were in hospital with two in the ICU.
Meanwhile, after 54 new high-risk cases Friday, the number of active cases was 183, down from 191 on Wednesday. On Monday the number was even higher, at 237.
On the vaccination front, 83% of Hastings-Prince Edward’s population five years of age and older are fully vaccinated while almost 88,000 residents have received a booster shot.
There were nine new high-risk COVID cases in Northumberland on Friday.
Forty-two cases are active.
