There is a proposal to a Quinte West committee to add a prominent name to a well-known building in the municipality.
At Wednesday’s Corporate and Financial Services Committee, a proposal will be before members to rename the Quinte West YMCA.
A proposal from Kristen Crowe, the president of Alarm Systems, is to rename the YMCA of Central East Ontario in Trenton. If approved it would become The John Williams YMCA.
The proposal talks of the contributions to public life in Quinte West and well-being of residents made by Williams.
John Williams is a former city councillor and mayor for the municipality, as well as a local business owner who supported many groups, programs, and charities.
Staff is recommending the name change.
