A local quarry has received a provincial award.
Lafarge Canada’s Point Anne Quarry in the former Thurlow Township has received Ontario Stone, Sand and Gravel Association’s 2021 Progressive Rehabilitation Award.
The award recognizes the ongoing efforts of individual operators to progressively rehabilitate their sites in accordance with their site plans.
From 2009 to 2020, Point Anne Quarry has been rehabilitating its south and west faces, which total approximately 7.3 hectares.
“We are really honored to have received these recognition awards,” said Peter Sanguineti, Vice President – Aggregates Eastern Canada, Lafarge Canada Inc. “They not only highlight Lafarge Canada’s leadership in community engagement and the protection of biodiversity, but also the tremendous work of our teams on the ground. Across all our operations, we are truly committed to making a difference through our sustainability efforts.”
The award was presented at OSSGA’s 2022 Conference & AGM at the end of February.
