The province has launched the first six ONroute charging stations, including ones in Odessa and Napanee as part of a commitment to bring electric vehicle fast chargers to the province’s busiest highways.
Bay of Quinte MPP and Energy Minister Todd Smith was in Odessa for the launch on Wednesday saying the fast charging stations will boost electric vehicle ownership, support Ontario’s growing EV manufacturing industry and reduce emissions.
Daryl Kramp, MPP for Hastings Lennox and Addington, says increasing choice and convenience for local drivers will make electric vehicle ownership a more realistic choice for families.
Last year the Ontario government announced a total of 69 fast chargers would be built at all 23 ONroutes.
Charging stations are also already up and running in Cambridge South, Cambridge North, West Lorne and Dutton.
