There were 23 complaints filed against the conduct of Quinte West OPP officers last year.
However, at a Quinte West Police Board meeting Monday, Detachment Commander Inspector Christina Reive said only one of the complaints was substantiated and charges have been laid.
“Most are unsubstantiated, withdrawn or frivolous so people do come in and we welcome them to come in and give feedback and we take every complaint seriously.”
Meanwhile a few of the complaints against officers had to do with COVID-19 restrictions.
“A larger number than normal which is still just a handful are pertaining to people who don’t wish to wear masks in properties and then when we remove them from the property then they feel we have gone against their rights.”
